I watched a number of movies this past weekend. Among them was Tremors 2: Aftershocks. Fred Ward and Michael Gross are back together but Kevin Bacon is absent. The graboids are back and terrorizing Mexico. Fred is hired to hunt them down. For fifty thou per dead worm Fred can't turn them down.Things go pretty smoothly at first but graboids can get smart pretty quick. After the elimination of most of the worms something new happens and the next thing you know it's a whole new ball game and Fred and company will be hard pressed just to survive.If you enjoyed the first movie you will probably like this one. The worm effects are not quite as good (the tongues aren't right) but the original mix of humor and horror is back. Fred even has a new sidekick in Christopher Gartin who has a tendency to look like Kevin Bacon at times. In a two-hour movie featuring both sets of the series' detectives for the first time, a visiting Iowa teen disappears during her New York City school trip, prompting a massive media frenzy that engulfs Detectives Goren, Eames, Logan and Barek when their prime suspect Ethan is a powerful judge's son (Joran Van Der Sloot?). The case widens when it appears the accused philandering father Harold is a co-conspirator who acted to protect his son and might be a murder suspect himself (Paul Van Der Sloot?) but he is not afraid to punch back hard against the investigators. Singer Aaron Carter has called off his engagement to Playboy model Kari Ann Peniche after just six days, PEOPLE has confirmed. Peniche tells PEOPLE she and the House of Carters star made the "mutual decision" on Friday. "He's really young and just needs to get his act together," she says. "I don't know what's going on right now. We're friends and maybe we'll get back together sometime. We haven't ruled out getting back together." Carter's rep confirmed the split, telling PEOPLE, "He decided he had made a mistake. He's young and got caught up in the moment. He hopes they can be friends." Carter, 18, popped the question in Las Vegas on Sept. 16, while he and Peniche were sharing the stage in front of 200 audience members during the Playboy Comedy Tour at the Palms Casino Resort. Carter's proposal caught Peniche by surprise. "He said he was going to do it, but we thought he was kidding," Playboy tour producer and comedian Cort McCown told PEOPLE at the time. "He was really nervous." Peniche, 22, was named Miss United States Teen 2003, but was stripped of her title after posing for Playboy. He grew up in Sligo, a large town in the northwest of Ireland. He was born on July 5, 1979 to Peter and Mae Filan. He is the youngest of seven children. He has three brothers and three sisters: Finbarr, Peter Jr, Yvonne, Liam, Denise and Mairead. His parents owned a diner in Sligo named Carlton Cafe located on Castle Street and Shane used to work there as a waiter from a very early age.
